About Honolulu Pickleball

Since retiring in 2018, we began seeking a healthier lifestyle centered around friendship, good food, outdoor activities, and making the most of each day. After exploring parts of Europe and Mexico, we decided Honolulu was the perfect place to stay and play.

A few years later, shortly after the pandemic, we discovered the pickleball courts at Fort DeRussy and played our first game using wooden paddles. We were complete beginners. Yet one of the local players took the time to teach us the game with patience, kindness, and encouragement.

That simple act of aloha changed everything.

The Fort DeRussy pickleball courts quickly became our happy place.

• A place where you can play pickleball and then cool off with a swim in the ocean.
• A place where green sea turtles and Hawaiian monk seals occasionally make an appearance just a few feet away.
• A place where visitors and locals come together, share stories, and form lifelong friendships.
• A place where you can get your daily dose of Vitamin D and Vitamin "Sea."
• A place where you can watch the sunrise over Diamond Head and later enjoy a spectacular Hawaiian sunset.

The setting is uniquely Hawaiian. Shade from the hau trees, nearby restaurants, beach rentals, showers, restrooms, barbecue grills, and Hawaiian music drifting over from the Koa Oasis all combine to create an atmosphere unlike any pickleball venue we've experienced anywhere else.

Honolulu Pickleball was created to help others discover this special community and experience the aloha spirit that makes these courts so memorable.
